and anime expo is one of the largest events in north america.
anime expo attracts over 100,000 people. it is essentially a city-wide event, spread out across as many hotels as there are in the area. and a good chunk of people are in cosplay or merchandise. everyone in the area knows there is an event going on, and it can be pretty easy to tell who is there for anime expo.
so it can also be pretty easy to tell when something is going wrong with anime expo.
unless anime expo cancels or the union changes their mind, this will get people talking. this will disrupt things in an extremely visible way. and that is the point.

1) Your English is probably better than you think it is. I’ve read many posts that ended with something along the lines of “sorry for my bad English” and was surprised because it was worded exactly the way a native English speaker would word it.
2) The main purpose of language is to communicate. Even if communication is a little awkward, as long as we can understand what the other person is trying to say, there’s no need for it to be perfect.
3) You speak English better than I can speak your language.

5) Being able to speak a second language at all is a huge achievement and something most of the people ragging on “bad English” are incapable of themselves. You’re doing great.
6) “bad English” suggests there’s such a thing as “good English”….and have you SEEN this language? We just live like this.

Her perfume White Diamonds is pretty much the most successful celebrity perfume ever (sales of over $1.8bn as of 2018). 20% of all sales in perpetuity goes straight to her AIDS charity. Taylor (and Angela Lansbury) really walked the walk when it came to supporting people suffering from HIV and AIDS at a time where it really was not seen as a sensible thing to do.
And for Whoopie to provide that kind of platform to talk openly about it on the debut episode of her show, EVEN in 1992, that was risky as fuck and brave as hell.
As entertaining as the Reddit shenanigans are, I’m genuinely worried about permanently losing access to all of those old posts about very specific tech problems that it seems only Redditors know the answers to. When I Google how to fix some error on my device or a glitch in a video game, the most helpful information comes from a Reddit post from 5 years ago with like 12 upvotes. I don’t want to have to rely on, like, Quora for that help from now on.
